Christopher Leedham (Artistic Director)
Christopher Leedham is a composer and conductor. His compositional interests lie in formulating narrative threads in abstract musical structures and the development of complex musical webs utilising only the simplest of musical ideas.
He has recently completed a PhD in Composition at the University of York under the supervision of Roger Marsh. Before York he studied at Magdalen College, Oxford, taking composition lessons with Robert Saxton and Guy Newbury, and at the London College of Music, where he gained an MMus with distinction.
Christopher’s works have been performed across the UK and broadcast on BBC Radio 3 and BBC Two by members of the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra, Manchester Chamber Choir, The 24, The Vertigo Project and the Kreutzer Quartet. Prizes include the Lyons Celebration Award, LCM Postgraduate Composition Prize and finalist in the BBC Young Composer of the Year Competition.
