Firewheel

Brand new British music interwoven with freshly-minted folk song arrangments

Joined by singer, composer and songwriter Stef Conner, the group performs old songs interwoven with music by emerging composers of the contemporary British scene.

Central to the tour is Firewheel, a brand new work from leading British composer Philip Cashian. The tour features works by composers with links to the North of England: Stef Conner (RPS Prize 2012); Benjamin Gait (Sound and Music Ensemble 10/10 Portfolio composer); Patrick Jones (Britten Sinfonia OPUS 2014 winner); Christopher Leedham (Sound and Music Composer-Curator 2013); and Martin Scheuregger (British Music Collection composer-in-residence).

Curated in partnership with Sound and Music, the tour takes Dark Inventions to venues across the North of England (8-16 May 2014). The group’s debut EP, Hinterland, is released to coincide with the tour.

Firewheel was commissioned with financial assistance from Britten-Pears Foundation. Dark Inventions’ Firewheel Tour is presented in partnership with Sound and Music.
